Anyway, with that and certain other more significant exigencies in mind, there's a distinct possibility that my participation in this H2O ride will not go ahead as planned. I've come up with an alternate start date, sometime in the first week of May, 2021, and thought I'd see if anyone had any thoughts or comments on the issue. The timing appealed to me solely because climatic conditions then have historically been very similar to the September/October timeframe currently proposed, in both Nashville and Savannah.
In the meantime, I'll keep all the cancellable lodging arrangements in place until matters become clearer. Maybe a further review around mid-year will provide a clear indication either way, although I am not optimistic.

Bob,
I've wondered if flight facilities would be functioning well enough for you to make it to Nashville by September 2020. Lock down in the USA will not be as effective as it was in China or even South Korea. The bad is a lot more people will die, The good is that Covid will likely burn though the USA in the text few months and leave an immune populace.
Assuming all are not back to normal by September May 2021 is a reasonable target. The main difference between May and Sept weather is the chance of rain. That said we've done multi week tours in May with no rain and a five day tour with four days of rain in September. It would need to be after May 1, 2021 to miss Pedal for Paws.

Hi Bruce,
Non-essential outbound travel is now completely banned for Aussies, for fear of the infection they (read, ethnic Chinese and Italians) might return with. Our PM is resolutely talking of a 6-month time frame on all restrictions, which syncs right in with my currently-scheduled departure date of 10 September. Then of course there are the USA border restrictions.
I'll avoid Pedal for Paws. I had 1 May pencilled in for travel from Brisbane to Phoenix and I've been toying with the idea, of driving from there to
Hendersonville, taking a leisurely 4 days, two of them off the interstates and retracing the route I cycled cross-country in 2002.
Hope you and Wilma are keeping well.
Bob
